a little bit rock and roll

do you ever feel like reinventing yourself?

i'm kind of in the middle of my own little reinvention at the moment.  it wasn't an intentional thing.  and it's nothing drastic...  i guess i've just felt for awhile that my outside didn't quite match my inside.

anyone who knows me knows that i'm a bit of a free spirit.  i think i'm to a point in my life where i know who i am and what i want (to sum up: NOT a husband, a house with a white picket fence, and 2.5 kids) and i'm not afraid to tell you.  i believe in working towards a better world, in equality for everyone, in higher taxes to support integral parts of our society (education, healthcare, etc.), in legalizing marijuana...  basically i'm a crazy liberal hippie chick.

but aside from my tattoos, i don't look the part.  which isn't necessarily a bad thing.  identifying myself as a hippie doesn't mean i have to grow dreads, wear hemp clothes and shop at thrift stores - not that there's anything wrong with that.  but i'm also not sure that the preppy banana republic/gap-centric look i've been cultivating the last few years really works for me anymore.

so my mission now is to find some middle ground between my hippie side and my preppy side.  and i started by putting feathers in my hair and piercing my nose.
